Seven times Australian champion Jay Marmont has confirmed that he will join the Monster Energy Kawasaki team for the 2012 Australian Supercross and Motocross Championship season. The 28-year-old from Wollongong in New South Wales will most anticipated one of the keys in the history of motocross in Australia next year, again assuming a new challenge after winning five titles in four years with Yamaha CDR.
Marmont will be your number one mill for the Queensland-based plates Monster Energy Kawasaki operation for next year aboard the new model KX450F 2012 team, the team managed by former multiple-time national champion Troy Carroll.
It is a movement that says Marmont is important at this point in his illustrious career that included four victories in the league last MX national series, as well as this year's Monster Energy Super X title. Marmont also won the Australian Supercross titles in 2003 and 2004.
"My time with CDR included the best years of my career and many of those years have ended with championships," said Marmont. "There has been much to celebrate and I learned a lot along the way. It's been great being a part, but it's time to move on and thank the entire team and its supporters during this period of my career."
Now part of the Monster Energy Kawasaki team rider three, Marmont testing will begin immediately and is excited to defend their titles in an entirely new to him. Currently in the best shape of his career, Marmont is motivated to continue his recent string of success.
"I'm good friends with Troy Carroll for a number of years and I watched him run the Monster Energy Kawasaki team and do a good job at it," said Marmont. "I've been very impressed with how the team does things and they have great partners, including Monster Energy and Kawasaki.
"The level of competition in Australia is becoming more difficult every year, so I have to keep challenging myself. With a strong international field continue to come to Australia will not get easier anytime soon, so I I'll start today with Monster Energy Kawasaki to prepare for the next year. "
Marmont Queensland is currently in testing with the Monster Energy Kawasaki team to get a definition based on the KX450F, before returning home for the off-season and holiday period.
The opening round of the Australian Motocross Championship will start in Queensland on Sunday, April 1, 2012. Series next year will be expanded to 10 rounds across the country throughout the country.
