A totally new format could be introduced to Australian Motocross in 2012, with Kevin Williams Williams Event Management this week revealing the structure of the potential for MotoOnline.com.au event. A three-race format will probably be introduced, which would feature races back-to-back sprint to start the process, before a more traditional bike about 30 minutes occurs in the afternoon.
Williams said that the lengths of MotoOnline race during the season will be dictated by turns instead of time, but mother is still to make an official decision about the format.
The idea behind revising the format is gaining parity between those who excel in sprint races as well as those who prefer more bikes.
The format sprint / endurance is essentially the opposite of what the series had in the past, when there were more bikes in the morning, supported by sprint to finish.
"We are close to setting our formats and now we seem inclined to bikes back-to-back sprint in the morning and a bike more in the afternoon," said Williams.
"It will be the best of both worlds for the two pilots who are really dynamic and super fit that can handle the explosive sprint format, and the balance of the GP riders and larger format race.
"I think we will again see the championship go down to the wire."
MAE believes that MotoOnline.com.au rounds can also potentially field to select the format of four bike that was contested this year, have some rounds with only two traditional bikes.
Williams received additional international contenders to the series for next season, including former world champion Ben Townley and current British champion Brad Anderson.
Along with the defending four-time champion Jay Marmont switching teams for next year and the return of Tye Simmonds from the U.S., the series will be the final beneficiary.
"When you consider the international rider line-up, there's world championship race winners and champions, the English champions, and also the best of our local talent," Williams added.
"This series in Australia, is clearly becoming one of the very best in the world - you just have to look at the alignment of pilots we have."
The 2012 season is scheduled to begin in Queensland on 1 April, with the location to be announced by the MAE.
